Project:

To provide safe, clean drinking water and simple irrigation to the community.

Summary:

In 2015 and 2016, the Maya community was badly affected by a severe drought and famine. In the words of SIFAT graduate Sam, who oversaw the building of this well, Ani Amuwadde Akatebe, which is an African proverb that literally means who has given him/her a sit. In Uganda, when there is no smoke in the kitchen or little on the table, no one will welcome you for there is nothing to be offered.

With SIFAT’s support, Sam was able to provide safe drinking water, as well as simple irrigation to this community.
