A tall water tower rises above the trees.

Rhoda wants to bring safe drinking water to her community in Nigeria.

Project: To provide clean drinking water resulting in improved health to the Tim community of Bwonpe village in Nigeria.

Summary:

Women and children in this community often spend up to three hours in the morning and possibly again in the evening searching for water during the dry season. Because of this lack of clean drinking water, the health of the community suffers, since they often use unclean, polluted water from sources shared by animals. This water leads to typhoid, hepatitis, tapeworm and other problems.

Rhoda, a SIFAT graduate, had a vision for a drilled well, a tower with a holding tank and a solar system to pump water into the tank. Water from this well will be offered to the entire community free of charge. The project will involve community training, ensuring operational management, long-term maintenance and sustainability
