Project: To build a secure fence or wall around the Academy School in northern Nigeria to avoid children being kidnapped.

Summary:

The Academy School is in the open and needs a fence/wall around it for security. In northern Nigeria, several schools have been raided and children abducted. The Nigerian government has ordered that fences or walls be installed around every school to forestall these security breaches and intrusions. If no fence or wall is installed, the government is threatening to shut the school down. The Academy School is unable to provide sufficient funds to build the fence or wall and has asked SIFAT for needed funds. This is the third fence project, which has been faced with many obstacles. A change in wall height requirements, the onset of COVID, a property ownership dispute that has now been resolved caused significant delays. As a result, the cost of materials to construct the fence have increased dramatically, resulting in the need for this third project. The community is providing all of the labor to complete the school’s fence.
