Learn and Serve

Our Learn and Serve (L&S) program for junior and senior high school youth, college ministries and young adult groups encourages participants to "learn" about diverse cultures, differing living conditions and the technologies SIFAT utilizes throughout the world. While learning these things, participants are empowered to "serve" somewhere, whether locally or internationally.

Groups interested in L&S may come for our weeklong summer camp, retreats or day trips.

Click for the L&S summer camp site, which includes registration info and schedules.

CARES Field Trips

CARES (Creative Academic Resources for Educational Success) offers interactive field trips to public, private, Christian and home school students, as well as youth groups and scout troops. The curriculum provides creative opportunities for youth from kindergarten through high school to participate in hands-on activities with an international perspective.

Sample cultures from Asia, Africa and Latin America. Make bricks from clay and straw. Explore sources of alternative energy--and much more! CARES field trips are cross-culturally oriented, take place within SIFAT's Global Village and are available throughout the year.

RETREATS

Retreats at SIFAT let youth and young adults escape from daily lives of school, stress and technology overload (think cell phones, iPods, e-mail). Retreats can be customized to meet the specific needs and interests of your group.

Two of our popular retreats include our Global Village Overnight and Slum Experiences. The Global Village Overnight Experience, which includes an overnight stay in our village in a variety of developing world settings. It also includes the opportunity to participate in the Slum Experience, where participants can encounter conditions faced daily by the urban poor.
