What do we offer?

The following elements can be combined to create a personalized retreat for your group. Contact our Learn & Serve staff, learnandserve@sifat.org, for more information or to schedule your group. We also have weeklong summer camp if your group is interested.

Global Village Overnight Experience

Groups spend the night in our Global Village and experience firsthand what life may be like in a Two-thirds World remote village. The global Village Overnight includes the supplies needed to prepare dinner and breakfast that your group will cook over an open fire or cookstove, a night in one of the seven countries in the village, an international speaker (upon avilability) and a devotion or worship time (optional).

The Slum Experience

The Slum Experience is ideal for group building and leadership training. Participants "role play" and are challenged to meet their basic needs of food, shelter and water as they struggle to survive in the slum for a "day" (actually about 2-3 hours). Participants are also faced with the injustices of crooked law enforcement and greedy slum lords (characters played by our staff and volunteers).

Cost: $10 per person

The Slum Experience can beturned into an overnight experience similar to the Global Village Overnight Experience.

Cost: $35 per person

Appropriate Technology

During the Appropriate Technology program, students learn some of the appropriate technologies we teach our international students. Students are given the opportunity to build sawdust cookers, inertia pumps and other items that are changing and saving lives in the remote villages of many Two-thirds World countries.

Cost: $10 per person

Challenge Course

A low element ropes course with activies such as the spider web, the islands, the zig zag and the wall, the challenge course is ideal for team/group building and bonding, conflict management and resolution, leadership training and problem solving.

Work Projects

Work projects are available to groups interested in providing service that will help SIFAT continue our mission to people internationally, as well as here in the United States. Work projects are a great element of your retreat.

International Speakers

Oftentimes, we have international students on campus available to speak to your group about their culture and experiences living and working in the mission fields. Speakers are subject to availability and scheduling.

Soccer

Our campus offers a dirt soccer field much like those found in remote villages. A group of Latinos in our community regularly come to play. If your group is interested, we can usually organize a game. This is a wonderful opportunity to interact with people from different cultures in a fun and exciting way.

Recreational Opportunities

Other available recreational opportunities are fishing, swimming in the pond, wading in the creek, primitive camping and hiking the beautiful trails. We offer water, electical and sewage hookups for RV camping.
