Quesimpuco, Bolivia

A rugged team site not for the fainthearted: Nestled at the end of an Andean trail, at 13,000 feet, this village is virtually untouched by modern civilization and is the home of the hearty Quechuan Indians, direct descendants of the Incas.

These people are eager to know more about Christ, and desperately need you to partner with them as their community develops. The school and boarding home are growing rapidly, and the community center must be converted into classroom space. Teams will have the privilege of participating in the ground-breaking and building of a new lodging facility for the medical center staff, visitors, and team members. Medical, dental, and optical teams are invited to extend health care beyond Quesimpuco to two of the outlying medical outposts: Saritchi and Tuscafaya.

The SIFAT staff will meet your team at the airport of LaPaz. You will then travel directly to Quesimpuco, arriving early in the evening. Colorful people from the village will greet each team with music, singing, flowers, and "bienvenidos." Teams' lodging will be in the medical center with bunk beds and a shower with cold running water. The staff will prepare the meals in the center's kitchen.

As part of a work team, you will be involved in church services, music, and testimonies through an interpreter. Your faith may be shared through VBS, puppets, and sports (soccer, basketball, and volleyball) with the villagers of all ages. We also take time to hike up narrow mountain trails to a nearby village.

Returning is a direct drive back to the city of LaPaz where your team will have time to explore the colorful markets and stores around the Plaza San Francisco. Optional trips to other places of interest: Lake Titicaca, Macchu Picchu, Solar de Uyuni, extended trips into the Madidi National Park, and many others
