TRAINING
SIFAT partners with UAB / Sparkman Center for Global Health
SIFAT is partnering with the University of Alabama at Birmingham to offer periodic seminars/workshops combining the best in academic research with appropriate technologies in a community development context to address basic human needs essential to good health globally.
Seminars usually last one hour at UAB, usually at noon at the School of Public Health. Workshops at SIFAT are longer with hands-on practical components.

November 16-18 "The Killer in the Kitchen" Indoor Air Pollution in the Developing World Conference on Appropriate Technology Cookstoves. Smoke from cookfires in the kitchen is the fourth leading cause of death in the developing world, affecting mostly women and young children. We are partenring with appropriate technology organizations specializing in cookstoves and alternative energy, and with internationally renowned researchers on health and indoor pollution.(more info )
